Connecticut Legal Services (CLS) is not a non-profit law firm dedicated to improving the lives of low-income earners by providing access to the judiciary.
CLS is a community resource that solves urgent problems affecting law firms, social welfare agencies, and low-income people.
They do not deal with criminal cases if the poor are charged with a crime, they are generally entitled to a free public defender (provided by the government).
But for most other types of cases, low-income people do not have a government-funded lawyer, and they generally cannot afford a private lawyer.
In most cases, the poor have access to a lawyer only if they can get help from a legal aid lawyer.
If you are 59 years of age or younger and are looking for legal help for yourself or your family, you can get free legal aid.
