Description
- Legal Aid of West Virginia (LAWV) is the state's primary provider of civil legal aid and advocacy services.
- Their mission is to ensure that the most vulnerable among us - low-income families, seniors, victims of domestic violence, the disabled - have an equal shot at justice, in the courtroom and in their communities.
- Legal Aid receives grants so that they can provide help for free.
- They do not charge a fee for our services, but if they take your case you may have to pay certain court costs or other related expenses.
- To get help from Legal Aid attorneys and staff you must generally meet certain eligibility requirements.
- Generally speaking, you must be considered low-income OR a victim of domestic violence to qualify for help from their Civil Legal Aid Program.
- There are exceptions, so if you are unsure, go ahead and call to apply.
