Description

No other borough has changed as much as Staten Island over the past twenty years.

Significantly, poverty has increased by 90%. As a result of this dramatic change, Staten Island Legal Services opened its doors in 2004, the newest addition to Legal Services NYC.

Eleven years ago, they started with a staff of four and now have 26 staff and have expanded their practice areas.

Their practice areas are:   

• access to education   
• civil rights & language access   
• disaster recovery   
• family law & domestic violence   
• foreclosure prevention & homeowner rights   
• housing & tenants' rights   
• immigration & immigrants' rights   
• lgbt advocacy
