LSNF provides representation to low-income individuals and families only in civil matters.
Eligibility for legal aid may be based on the income and assets of all members of the household and the legal problem.
Under federal law, the LSNF cannot assist prisoners, deal with criminal cases, municipal court cases, personal injury, or employee compensation cases.
LSNF's legal services are free of charge however, clients may be liable for legal costs.

You can apply for legally binding services by contacting LSNF and completing an application either in person, by phone or on the Internet.
The applicant's legal problem will be examined for acceptance of the case.
Normally, it takes no more than one week to determine if the case will be accepted.
Applicants are informed of their decision by e-mail.
Personal applications will be accepted at one of their five field offices.
