The Immigration Law Advocacy Project (ILAP) provides free, low-cost immigration information and legal assistance to low-income Maine residents.
ILAP helps Maine immigrants keep their families together, gain protection from persecution and domestic violence, obtain residence and work permits, and become proud U.S. American citizens.
ILAP's services include
Direct legal assistance provided free or low-cost, education to immigrant communities, service providers and the general public on immigration laws and policies, and systematic advocacy to address laws and policies affecting large numbers of immigrants in the State of Maine.
ILAP serves Maine residents with incomes at or below 200% of the federal annual poverty level.
Please note that ILAP is a non-profit organization and is not paid by the government to help their clients.
Even if you meet their eligibility criteria, they cannot always serve everyone who needs help because their capacity is limited, as they do not have enough resources.
They appreciate your understanding.
