The Rhode Island Disability Law Center is an independent, federally funded, non-profit law firm designated as a protection and advocacy (P&A) system for Rhode Islanders with disabilities.
As a P&A agency, their task is to promote the civil rights of people with disabilities by providing individual representation, promoting changes in systems and analysing abuse and negligence in investigations.
If you are a person with a disability in Rhode Island and you have a legal problem related to a disability, you can call their reception staff at 401-831-3150.
The services provided include information, referral, advice and, in certain cases, legal representation.
There is no charge for this service.
Admissions are available Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m.
at 5:00.
The information obtained by the Intake Lawyer will be reviewed to determine if your issue fits within their current priorities.
If they can investigate your problem, you will receive a letter and your case will be referred to a lawyer who will contact you.
Please note that when you call it is not automatically that we can help you.
They are committed to providing assistance, but the demand for their services often exceeds the availability of their resources.
Therefore, cases should be selected based on our priority areas, which help them to manage their limited resources and staff.
