Description

The Virginia Legal Aid Society (VLAS) is a nonprofit law firm founded in 1977 to provide free civil legal services to eligible low-income residents in Central, Southside and Western Tidewater Virginia.

The VLAS serves these communities by providing free information, advice and representation in areas such as housing, healthcare, income and social services, family issues, consumers and education.


They handle education, housing, health, public goods, family law and consumer protection legislation.

LawLine paralegals screen the clients for eligibility.  During this brief screening, they will collect demographic information, including household size, income and asset information, conduct a required conflict of interest audit, and get a brief description of your legal problem.

They serve the cities of Danville, Martinsville, and counties of Henry, Patrick, and Pittsylvania.
